ASHA Workers- Accredited Social Health Activists
Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) is a trained female community health activist.
Selected from the community itself and accountable to it, the ASHA will be trained to work as an interface between the community and the public health system. At present there are over 9 Lakh ASHAs.
The ASHA scheme is presently in place in 33 states. The main health challenge areas for which the ASHAS are engaged are maternal and child health and family planning, TB, malaria, diarrhea, and HIV/AIDS, as well as prevention through education in sanitation, nutrition.Jai Singh state nodal officer asha program Total 51000 ashas are working in Rajasthan out of 55816 sanctions post 1000 to 1500 population cover each asha.
